Windows 10: No BSOD, however machine freezes intermittently.

Hi,

I have an annoying niggle with my desktop, that I am hoping some of the genius's here can help me with.

My machine intermittently freezes, maybe two or three times a week. There is no rhyme or reason/pattern to when this may happen. There is no response from the keyboard or mouse (Alt-Ctrl-Del is impossible), and the rest button on the front of my desktop case does not cause a reset - the only way i can reboot my machine, is to use the power off button on the front of case, and then power back on.

BSOD and freezing

Yesterday I started up my laptop from hibernating and it freezes, after restarting several times I get a BSOD which freezed on the BSOD one time.
After restarting again the laptop freezed at the Welcome screen.
I have had the freezing before, it was gone for about 2 months.
I did not install any new hardware.
Now it seems to run fine again.

But what is causing the freezing and the BSOD?
I bought this laptop last January.

That sounds like a more deep seated issue, perhaps something you have installed is intermittently running and using all available resources.

It may be worth you opening Task Manager (Press Ctrl > Shift >Esc together) and see if anything unusual appears. This shows task manager, the spike was when I opened it, all is quiet afterwards. If you have lots of CPU or Disk activity then click the appropriate item and see what is using all the resources. You can also view the 'Processes' tab in Task Manager which will list what is using what.

 

New Homebuild freezing and BSOD

So you are saying a PSU can never cause a computer to Freeze/BSOD...???
