Windows 10: No Command prompt access to reset password

Hi, A recent Windows 10 automatic update has me completely locked out of my computer. Half of the keys on my keyboard are dead; no passwords work on the onscreen keyboard, I cannot restore the system to an earlier Restore Point or undo the latest update; it doesn't give me the option of starting in safe mode, no F-button access to Advanced Start options work, and I cannot restart in DOS/command prompt mode because getting there requires a password and it's accepting none. . I've tried everything. Could MS Support perhaps talk me through a work-around over the phone, which would be ideal, or e

I am repairing a laptop for a friend and I need to access windows in safe mode and the owner has forgotten the password to the main user. I tried logging on with the administrator profile in safe mode but it is not showing up so I was going to use command prompt in safe mode with command prompt but command prompt will not open when I boot that option. Does anyone have any hints for me to figure this out?
