Windows 10: No connection can be made from laptop shown mapped drive of desktop drive, from laptop

I have mapped my desktop drive with xp into my laptop. This had always worked before. Suddenly the operating system hangs when the still shown mapped link in my laptop is activated. The only restore point is too recent to remedy the issue. A rundll32 popped a couple times. Any help will be appreciated.

Connect a Laptop based DVD Drive to a Desktop

Sata is sata, I used 2.5" laptop drives in my desktop so I don't see why a DVD drive won't work.

 

Not connecting to Mapped Drives on a win10 upgrade laptop to a win7 desktop machine

My 2 laptops that were upgraded to win10 from a win7pro OS. The mapped drives no longer connect to the homegroup on my win7 desktop.

How do I resolve this?

If you ghost the OS from disk to disk with the same system it should work fine. Thing is you have to GHOST the disk, including the MBR or it won't be bootable. Any other normal laptop drive should work as long as the connections the same.



If you cannot make a backup install CD, you'll likely need to locate a windows install CD, unless you can ghost the drive. Thats pretty much your only options atm.
