Windows 10: No display in external monitor on safe boot

My laptop screen is broken, so I use an external VGA monitor with the hdmi cable . . I searched on net for a solution and I found that safe booting would solve my problem. From msconfig I clicked on the safe boot option. After which I had to restart my PC. But after that I am not getting any display on my external monitor. My laptop screen is also broken. So I am not able to see anything on my laptop screen, My laptop model is dell g15 5510

I understand that you are facing issues with the display scaling on your external displays. We will certainly look into this for you.

As you are using Vizio TV, you may have to try using custom resolution settings if the in-built settings do not provide the required settings.

For better clarity, please let us know:

• What is the version of Windows 10 that is currently installed on your computer? You can click on Search and type
  winver.
• Are you aware of any recent changes to the system, such as updates, after which you are facing this issue?
• What is the make and model of your computer?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to check the steps mentioned in the Workaround section in

Windows scaling issues for high-DPI devices

I would also suggest you to check the Display drivers. Please refer

No display in external screen on safe boot

My laptop screen is broken, so I use an external VGA monitor. Today after I logged in I got an error "cortana and start menu not working" . I searched on net for a solution and I found that safe booting would solve
my problem. From msconfig I clicked on the safe boot option. After which I had to restart my PC. But after that I am not getting any display on my external monitor. My laptop screen is also broken. So I am not able to use my laptop.My laptop model is hp Pavilion
g6 2231tx .Please help

 

Laptop with Win10 stuck in safe mode with no display on external monitor

Hallo,

My laptop has Windows 10 OS. Due to the damaged laptop screen I was using an external monitor. Recently I changed my AV and to ensure complete uninstall of old AV, I was advised to start in Safe mode through setting changes in system configuration module. I made the change and restarted, but without signal on the external display. As I understood from my search that in Safemode, the signal is only to the primary display and not to the external display. I have tried all the possible solutions suggested on internet

1. Switching display using function key - did not work

2. Disconnecting LCD cable from motherboard - did not work

3. Blind windows Safemode navigation to disable safe mode (BCDEDIT) - did not work

Currently I am considering booting my HDD on another computer to disable Safemode or replacing the screen. I have an OEM licence. While I am weighing my options, any advise on how to go about booting the HDD in another computer to disable Safemode with pitfalls to watch out for would be helpful.
