Windows 10: No dynamic IP on end user system...

I have an end user who is too far away to do an onsite troubleshoot. He came to us and said that he could not get a dynamic IP by wired connection. And before anyone asks, I do not believe he has any kind of assigned IP pool so I don't believe he can force an IP. When he brought the system to us for troubleshooting this past weekend, we could not replicate the issue. We noticed in the event logs that there was a "same name on the domain" error and we suspect this is the issue. However, when he took the system to another location off the network he intends to use he was still unable to pull a dynamic IP. At our location the system behaved properly, but not with him. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

From the description provided, I understand that you want to assign an IP address instead of the Dynamic configuration.

Please follow the below suggested steps and check if it helps.

• Right click on Start Menu to open the Power User menu and select Control Panel.
• Choose Network and Internet and click on Network Sharing Center.
• Select Change Adapter settings from the left pane.
• Right-click on the network adapter you want to assign an IP address and click Properties.
• Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then click the Properties button.
• Now change the IP, Subnet mask, Default Gateway, and DNS Server Addresses. When you’re finished click OK.
• You’ll need to close out of Local Area Connection Properties for the settings to go into effect.

Open the Command Prompt and type ipconfig to verify if the changes were successful.

How to reset dynamic port for TCP/IP to default

Dynamic IP configuration

I hope the new update allows users to configure wlan manually for using networks with dynamic ip.. the only feature i want to start using asap at my workplace.
