Windows 10: No folder groups under this PC after updating

Hi, I just did a clean install of Windows 11 to try out the Operating System. When I do the clean install before updating I can see the folders under this PC like in the first picture down below. I always start with updating the OS to the newest version and I noticed that my folders like Downloads, Music etc. are now gone with one of the updates. I haven't changed a thing except for removing the pinned folders in Home when I first installed and didn't update yet. I assume this is a bug in one of the updates for Windows 11? The picture down below is how it shows with the updates installed.I run

How to Change the Group by View of a Folder in Windows 10 tutorial

The delay to reply was unrelated to this topic. I was preparing to add a disc drive. The preferred view is working now, and here is the step by step list of what I did, and it includes an additional step at the end. I also rebooted after each step.

1. Reset all views to default.
2. Rebooted.
3. Changed the "My Pc" view to Details and set the "Group By" to [None]. But left everything else at default.
4. Rebooted.
5. "My Pc" view retained the selected setting, alphabetically ordered "Details" without grouping.
6. Switched to Drive C:\, set it to "Details" and changed the column order to "Name, Size Type and Date". Grouping is available but not applied by the default settings.
7. Rebooted.
8. "My Pc" lost the settings, reverted to "Tile" and "Group by" was active again.
9. Reconfigured to "Details" and set the "Group By" to [None].
10. Rebooted.
11. "My Pc" view retained the selected settings. Alphabetically ordered "Details" without grouping.

 

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

Not all Hotmail Folders are Updated
