Windows 10: No HDMI Audio options showing in playback

I just updated a gateway lt4004u laptop from windows 7 to 10. I am trying to use a tv as a monitor via hdmi which is working but I cant get the audio to work. Ive tried updating the drivers, right clicking to show hidden devices, and disabling, restarting and enabling again. No luck so far. This was working just fine before I updated. Any other solutions?

I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps. First check if “HDMI Output” is selected as the default device.

• Click Start and select Control Panel.
• On the right hand side of the screen, under View by: click the drop-down icon and select Large icons.
• Click Sound.
• If you do not have the HDMI Output listed under “Playback” tab, right click in the
  playback window and select Show Disabled Device and
  Show Disconnected Device.
• If the HDMI Output option appears, right-click HDMI Output
  and select Default Device.
• Now the audio must be playing on HDMI.

Also try updating the recent HDMI drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check if the issue is resolved.

You may also unplug and plug in back the HDMI output and check.

When I am connecting hdmi cable from my lenovo laptop IP 500 to Sony home theatre. No hdmi playback audio is showing even after enabled disconnect device and disabled device. Both of laptop and home theater have hdmi option. What to do next so that I
can enjoy audio from my laptop through home theatre.

 

No HDMI option in Playback, video works fine


I decided today to try using my flat screen as a second monitor to do video tutorials on. I plugged in the HDMI and the video part works perfectly. But there is no sound. There is no option for HDMI in the playback panel (I made sure disconnect devices show was clicked. I tried updating audio and graphics drivers. I restarted 6 times. I tried three different cords.

The sound works fine with Chromecast, Roku, and ps3 so I know it's not the tv or the cords. Any suggestions are welcome because this is driving me insane.
