No HP logo splash screen after installing GTX 1060

    Hi all,
Bit of a strange issue. I recently replaced my graphics card. I used to have a GTX 770 and replaced it with a Gigabyte GTX 1060 6Gb Windforce OC. All graphics drivers were uninstalled and then updated to the latest versions, and it works as per normal. But I have noticed something unexpected. From a cold boot, the monitor says "no signal" and goes into standby until the windows log-on screen appears. From then on all is ok. But before the card was replaced, the monitor used to stay active and display the Hewlett Packard (HP) blue splash logo, with the white dots going round in a circle, before going on to the windows screen. If the PC is merely restarted, then the logo does appear prior to the log-on screen. No changes have been made in BIOS. I can still access BIOS normally from a cold or warm boot. Anybody know why this is the case with the splash screen not appearing?
The monitor is an AOC i2369Vm. The PC is a HP Envy Phoenix 810-470na. Details: i7 4790, 128Gb SSD for the operating system, 16GB RAM, 2Tb hard drive. It came with Windows 8.1, but I upgraded to Windows 10 in May of this year, which went smooth as silk with no issues. Also, it came with the GeForce GTX 770 actually pre-installed, with drivers updated regularly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    :)

Delayed wakeup from sleep and MB logo splash screen shows for seconds before waking

After upgrading to Windows 10 my computer now takes several seconds to wakeup from sleep mode and before waking shows the ASUS logo splash screen before waking up. I've never had any delay like this before and certainly no logo splash screen during wakeup.
Why the delay and why the logo splash screen?

Press the Windows Logo key, *Start + P and make sure its set to PC Screen Only. Then Go to Settings > System > Display and make sure only one monitor is shown and its set as the default monitor.

I run triple displays and my BIOS POST screen shows on one monitor while the Windows logon screen shows on my main screen. It sounds like your Video card thinks there are multiple displays connected.

Thank you for the reply. I did the checks you requested, and all appears fine, i.e. PC Screen only and my monitor is set as the default. I actually do wonder if the original GTX 770 BIOS was modified to display the HP logo for branding, as it came pre-installed with the PC. But it may not explain why it appears after a restart. Any more help would be appreciated. No logo on/off options appear in BIOS.

Look at BIOS and see if PCIe is default video output device. It may be looking for IGPU first and only after windows starts and drivers are loaded it becomes default.

I looked in the BIOS and there is an "integrated video" setting. Next to it, it says "disable", not "disabled". Do I actually have to perform this action to disable it? i.e. select this, so it then says "enable".

Yes, try disabling internal GPU, some would not switch to dedicated GPU automatically. The HP logo is displayed by BIOS not GPU.

  9. When running Windows 10 with UEFI BIOS, Windows 10 will display the OEM logo instead of the default Windows Logo. If your PC is an HP you get the HP Logo, Dell a dell logo etc. My Laptop shows the ASUS logo. My desktop PC's are also ASUS but only have a legacy BIOS. On those PC's I just get the Windows Logo on boot. The video card BIOS has nothing to do with it as far as I know. As far as what logo gets shown anyway.

On my multi monitor setup my POST and Boot screen show on one monitor, and my logon screen on another. I can change what screen my logon shows on by changing what monitor is set as default. The POST and Boot screen I can't. My video card sets that based on how many monitors are connected and what ports they are connected too. The video cards BIOS sets what screen the Boot screen shows on.

It appears, that part of your boot process is being sent to a port with no monitor connected, likely the onboard GPU. Follow what CountMike suggested to see if it helps. As a quick test you could connect your monitor to the onboard during boot up and see if you see the BIOS POST screen. That would confirm what's going on. Don't be surprised if it goes blank when Windows loads the logon screen. Just move the monitor cable back over to the add in cards port. It's a bit weird that it would do that? For me, as soon as an add in card is detected, my onboard is disabled automatically. If that motherboard has hybrid SLI/Crossfire that might explain it though.

Thanks for the advice. I will try the bios change out later. Much appreciated. I know it is only a small thing, but the logo thing is puzzling me and I want to get to the bottom of it! I posted this thread on "Tom's Hardware" and got sarcasm back!

Tried the BIOS integrated graphics on/off routine, but nothing changes. Crikey, this is doing my head in! Would love to know the reason.

Just found out from the HP website that there is a BIOS update available from earlier this year for my PC. Version 80.13 as opposed to version 80.07 which I have. Could this be as way to solve this issue, or would it be better to leave it as it is?

Thanks for the reply, CountMike, and Merry Christmas! The details of the BIOS changes are:

    Version: 80.13 Rev.A
Fixed in this release: - Fixed issue where system would hang up in BIOS Setup when system's time matches the schedule of "BIOS Power-On"
    - Fixed issue where Power LED status didn't change after system enter Intel RMT mode
    - Fixed issue where card reader information displayed in BIOS Setup/Boot Menu.
    - IRMT (Intel Ready Mode Technology) support

    Fix and enhancements:
    - Improved security of UEFI code and variables. HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version which supersedes all previous releases.
