Windows 10: No internet and cannot connect to domain

I have several Lenovo N23 computers and I am having serious issues with our internet connectivity. Recently, all the computers are unable to join the domain and have no connectivity to the internet. The problem is further compounded because these computers do not have an external Ethernet port. The only solution that has worked (and not in all cases) was to remove the computers from the domain, join a workgroup and then rejoin the domain after rebooting. This only fixes 1 in 2 computers and takes an exorbitant amount of time as we only have 2 adapters to convert Ethernet to a USB cable. I need to repair hundreds of machines for my school.


I have tried flushing the DNS and other command prompts, however the computer says it cannot reset connections while the media state is not connected. Under the Wi-Fi connection, the media state says, "Attempting to Authenticate" and does nothing more. Additionally running the network diagnostics fails to correct the issue as well.


Nothing I have found online resolves this issue. Please help...

Try the following steps:

  Click "Search" and type "Troubleshooting" without quotes and hit enter.
  
• 
  Click “View All”
  
• 
  Select "Internet Explorer connection"
  
•

• Open Admin command and type: ipconfig
  
  
  
• Win+X->Control Panel->Netwok and Sharing Center
  Follow the screen shot. This should disable internet access from this PC but allows access to local device(s)
  NOTE: Use the IP & Subnet Mask from step 1. Leave Default gateway & DNS Server blank
  
  
  

 

Windows Server 2016 - Setup Local Domain Controller

Great post! Thank you for these detailed instructions. I got to step 4.11 - 4.13. I am running Windows Server 2016 as a VM in VM Workstation 12 Pro. Before I made these changes, I had internet access. My VM Network Adapter is set to NAT.

I'm now connected to my new domain and I've changed the Preferred DNS address back to my router's IP address, but I'm still showing "No Internet access" and I have the yellow warning on my network connection. Any suggestions? I've restarted the vm and the main machine with no luck.
