Windows 10: No internet connection after upgrade

Checking back this morning at 8:02AM....IT'S ALL GOOD....INTERNET IS BACK UP. I am in Win 10 and all seems to be running fine.

I can't see anything related to VPN on my Surface Pro 2. I reverted back to Win8.1 and the network came back like a champ. Is there something hidden I need to look for and install?

 

I would look for any networking software that is not native to Windows 8.1
Possibly uninstall any VMware adapters within the device manager

Look within your program files folder for any mention of Cisco products

There was some mention of running c cleaner which could help cleaning up some of the registry

I am also having an issue with connectivity after upgrading to W10. I have reverted back to W7 as of now but below is my issue.

After upgrading I had no connectivity. The system would not acquire an IP from the ATT gateway. I tried rebooting both devices and was able to connect. Then after a second reboot connectivity loss took place again. I statically set the IPV4 address and still no success in reaching the gateway. It worked out to one in every three/four reboots would allow W10 to communicate with the gateway and allow for traffic to proceed. Otherwise it would list as unidentified network and not allow connection. This is with a static set IP address and DNS setting. If I left it acquire an IP via DHCP, it would fail citing it couldn't find the gateway and I'd be left with an APIPA address and no connectivity.

I tried to upgrade a second time and had the exact same issues. I tried reinstalling the network adapter verifying the correct driver installed etc. All with no change. I do have a virtual adapter installed as part of Andy Android, and I tried disabling that and no change. I do have Cicso's packet Tracer installed but unsure if that could be causing any issue.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

 

Try to change your network to private. Seems to be public by default. Worked for me.

 

I upgraded to Windows 10 from 7 and Internet doesn't work. I un-installed the wireless Lan adapter and installed again, Internet worked for a while the again stopped.

I read here that people are facing problem bcoz of CISCO VPN client, I had TOR installed on Windows 7, Can that be an issue?

 

dawn, did you reinstall the Cisco VPN after you upgraded to Windows 10 again?

 

I finally found the issue after the third attempt at upgrading. So as part of Cisco Packet Tracer it installs a virtual network adapter and it seems that W10 flat out does not like it. After uninstalling packet tracer and removing both network adapters and a restart it finally and consistently acquires its IP via the DHCP hand-off.

Thank's for the suggestion, I tried that initially but it was already listed as a private network. Seems that W10 cannot differentiate a virtual adapter and a physical one all that well and thus causes it to shut down all TCP/IP traffic.

 

After upgrading to win10 reinstalled cisco anyconnect, and it is working great

 

yes, I have same problem and had CISCO VPN.
For some reason, I cannot go back to 8.1 now so I am stuck with the problem.
any further ideas?

 

Try deleting the network driver and let windows find it itself through device manager.

 

Just chiming in with what fixed my issue. I had installed the Asus AI Suite when I replaced my motherboard (Win 8.1). After upgrading to Windows 10 I had the no internet issue. I didn't have the VPN clients like the rest so I was at a loss as what could be causing my issue. In the AI suite there is a background app that allows me to set my network to airplane mode (which I could not change after upgrading to win 10). I reverted back to 8.1 and the no internet issue was still there (I was a bit pissed). I uninstalled the AI suite, rebooted and all was good again. I tried the upgrade and all is working fine now. So if you have something like the Asus AI Suite, it will cause the same problem as the VPN clients.

 

Same no internet issue after upgrading to W10. After reverted back to W8.1, the problem of no internet was still there. My laptop does not have Asus AI Suite. I removed Cisco VPN, but still no wifi adapater found. Any idea to solve this? Don´t want to format my pc...

 

I had the same problem with my Asus motherboard having a very flakey Ethernet connection, mostly no connection. My connection problems seem to have been resolved when I installed the Windows 10 Chipset drivers I downloaded from Asus.

 

It got worst! After formating and installing Windows 8 again (without deleting my files), the wifi card was not found yet... Ethernet conncetion is working, however... Any help?
