Windows 10: No internet connection since windows update I think

I suddenly lost internet connection from my laptop possibly since the last win 10 update and have tried everything I cant find on the internet to resolve it without luck, hopefully someone can advise me on anything i have missed, details are:-Status is the same on both wireless and ethernet cabled, WiFi is connected, am able to remote desktop to the laptop and I can ping the router from the laptopStatus is the same if I connect wirelessly to a tethered Iphone suggesting its not the router or the service providerI have reset the routerI have restarted the laptopI have disabled all windows def

Installing windows required connect to internet ?

When clean installing windows, there's a first step installation menu appear like copying files, installing updates etc. Does this process need internet connection ? Because my internet suddenly off, so i've to think it's will impact my installation.
