Windows 10: No internet, no password

I am doing this and that on my computer and lost myy internet connection. My wife had a connection on her phone but not with me and my computer. Sometimes the best solutions for quite a bit is to restart your computer. This I did and was floored by what I encountered. I really did not know you had to be online in order to start or restart your computer. I tried just entering my password a couple times-think it was them third time trying that I got this blue screen. After a couple minutes, I was able to get on my computer like I normally do.



My question is, how is it that I was not able to sign on to my computer because I had no internet connection? As far as I know, everything seems to be working fine but this does not negate what happened and I do really want to find out why this happened.

Trouble Changing Wi-Fi Password


I've been following the following steps to change my Wi-Fi password for some time:

1. Launch Control Panel.
2. Click "Network and Internet."
3. Click "Network and Sharing Center."
4. Click "Wi-Fi...."
5. Click "Wireless Properties."
6. Click the Security tab.
7. Check "Show characters."
8. Enter the password in "Network security key."

Those steps have been working just fine, but today I discovered a new wrinkle. If I change the password inside the router first, "Wi-Fi..." doesn't appear in step 4. This isn't much of a problem at home, because I can just change the password in Control Panel before I change it inside the router, but it would be a problem at a public hotspot, or something of that nature. I also tested Brink's instructions in "How to Connect To a Wireless Network in Windows 10," but they don't work for me either. How can I fix this?

 

Password issue

After going through the steps to make a new password, after a week or two, my login credentials are no longer valid. I'm forced to make a new password all over again. It seems to happen if I don't login in a certain period of time. Does our passwords expire???
