    No Internet on cloned computer

About 18 months ago I made a clone of my main computer. I installed an image of my main computer into the cloned computer and all went well (of course I needed a new serial number for Windows 10 Home) I sold the clone and decided to do the exact same thing, however, there was no connectivity to the Internet with my new clone. I assumed that the problem was with my Gigabyte motherboard and had it RMAed. I tried reinstalling the LAN drivers but to no avail. Does this sound like a motherboard problem?

    :)

  2. Wi-Fi is on // No connection (after Windows Update)

    On Oct 13 windows updated.

The update must've invited malware into my computer. I tried to run my antivirus after the update but it said there's no connection. Google chrome lost connection as well and then I got a pop-up saying that Windows Defender found and blocked a "Severe Trojan
threat". So I deleted it and I still don't have connection... (weirdly) the only thing that works is the Explorer app. I have internet; the Wi-Fi works just fine but, everything else doesn't connect. It's something internal that must be causing
the problem and it all started after the update.

    P.S.

It also changed my network from private to public so I had to fix that.

And YES, I did allow these programs through the Firewall so that's not the problem.

That depends on if the network adapter is showing as ok in device manager and network settings.

  5. Did you put the Clone in the same computer it was made from??

Did you put the Image back on the same computer it was made from??

If not the drivers, chipset from one computer will not match the other computer hardware ect.

The PC isn't getting an IP as it get a 169 address so it's either a faulty port, cable or can't reach dhcp server

  8. No Internet on cloned computer

NavyLCDR had suggested you look in device manager and confirm network adapter is installed correctly, no yellow exclamation marks or error codes. Would also power cycle router, easy to do and takes it out of equation.

Next I would head to Gigabyte's web site, download and install network driver for your motherboard. Please confirm driver version number, data and manufacturer before installing and then again after installing. This way you can be assured changes occurred.

If that doesn't work try a network reset ... Start > Settings > Network and Internet > Scroll down left hand side > Network reset. If you have custom communication software like VPN's they may need to be re-installed.

    If that doesn't resolve ....

Run the following four bolded commands. Use a Command Prompt(admin) or Powershell(admin) Do not key in info in brackets, there for your information.

ipconfig /flushdns (Clear the dns cache)
nbtstat -RR (release and refesh NetBIOS names)
netsh int ip reset (reset ip settings)
netsh winsock reset (Reset Winsock Catalog)
