Windows 10: No internet - Windows stuck in S mode after updating

Hi all,


My friend messaged me today telling me after he updated Windows 10, it booted up into S mode. Now I know usually you can get out of S mode through the app store no clue as to why it's in S mode - he bought this computer and it used standard Windows 10 which I'm guessing is just the home edition, however the issue is he's told me he can't connect to the internet. When I checked his device manager after he sent me a pic I noticed there was a [!] next to the network connector telling me it was either missing or a bad/old driver.


The real problem over all is S mode won't run anything that isn't a verified Microsoft Store app. Meaning: I can't install a driver to fix the problem with the network adaptor because it wont run. I can't get out of S mode without using the internet. It's this stupid stupid cycle. I'm sort of at a roadblock now.

Is there any way to turn off S mode without internet? Is there any way to run non-Microsoft apps in S mode? It's just a PC Specialist custom built computer tower, so no brand name other than that. Can't remember the specs right now and I'm not over there to check doing this all online. He needs this fixed before tomorrow because he needs to attend his online classes.

I stuck in airplane mode, needfsome help

There are a lot of possible causes why your laptop/computer was stuck on airplane mode. To isolate the issue, we

  Were there any changes made before the issue occurred?

  Have checked if your drivers are updated?

We suggest that you run the
Network and Internet Troubleshooter
and check if there's any changes. To run the
Troubleshooter, follow these steps:

  On the search bar, type
  Troubleshooting
  and hit
  Enter.

  Choose
  Network and Internet.
  
• 
  Run
  the following
  Troubleshooter:
  
  • 
    Internet Connections
    
  • 
    Network Adapter
    
  • 
    Incoming Connection
    

After running the
Network and Internet Troubleshooter
and the issue still persists, kindly run the
Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter
to check for any hardware issues and fix it automatically. To run the Troubleshooter, follow these steps:

• 
  On the search bar, type
  Troubleshooting
  and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  Choose
  Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Click on
  Hardware and Devices
  to run the troubleshooter.

Stuck in safe mode in windows 10

Safe mode is intended to help fix most, if not all problems within an operating system, it's not good if we got stuck on it. To correct this, we suggest that you follow the steps below to exit out of Safe mode:

• Open Run command by pressing Windows key + R
  keys on the keyboard and type msconfig in the command box and press
  Enter.
• Under General tab, put a check on Normal Startup option.
• Reboot the system and check if the changes are effective.

Let us know if you are able to exit out of Safe mode with these steps.

 

Boot into Safe Mode on Windows 10  


I am stuck in Safe Mode in spite of following all the suggested steps to go back to Normal Startup - Like opening file location of msconfig.exe & running as Administrator. The computer I am trying to get out of safe mode has just been updated from Windows 7.
