Windows 10: No keyboard in Safe Mode

When I run Safe Mode, the keyboard works only until I have to press 4 to run Safe Mode. Then it stops works.
In Safe Mode, I can use only mouse. Why?
My keyboard is a Logitech G105 with latest drivers, via USB. Windows 10 has latest updates as well.

Hi Jon,

In cases wherein you're using Safe Mode, only a limited set of files and drivers are set to function. This could be a major factor as to why your wireless keyboard and mouse are not working when entering Safe Mode.

You have the option to try installing or updating the device's latest driver and enabling Legacy USB in BIOS if available, but we can't guarantee this would work due to the reason mentioned above.

The best thing you can do at this point is to use a wired keyboard if ever you wish to isolate system issues using Safe Mode.

While troubleshooting AVG antivirus not running, I found a link indicating I had to restart in Safe Mode, in Windows 10. I followed the instructions only to find out my wireless keyboard is not working. Do I need a wired keyboard and mouse in safe mode?

 

It may be you don't have legacy USB support enabled in your BIOS. Presumably you have a desktop PC.

It's a matter of having appropriate driver support available in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode minimal drivers are loaded.
