Windows 10: No List of Desktop Programs After Refresh/Reset

Discus and support No List of Desktop Programs After Refresh/Reset in Windows 10 Gaming to solve the problem; I just reset/refreshed windows 11 and chose the option to keep my files.     No List of Desktop Programs After Refresh/Reset


    I just reset/refreshed windows 11 and chose the option to keep my files. The dialog said that all my desktop applications would have to be reinstalled but that a list of them would be on my desktop when the refresh completed. Now the refresh has completed and the list of desktop programs is not on the desktop.This is an unresolved issue from ages ago.No List of Desktop Programs After Refresh/Reset - Microsoft Community

    No List of Desktop Programs After Refresh/Reset

    To locate the list of programs on Windows 10, navigate to C:\Users\$Username\Desktop And you will see a file called Removed Apps. That contains the list of programs you are looking for.

    Dear Guru Kiran,

    Thank you for your reply but it does not exactly answer the question I asked. Let me clarify.

    I understand it is possible to know what desktop programs were removed by digging through the Windows.old folder. However, it is nice to have a clean, concise list exactly like this dialog advertises prior to performing the reset.

    Because the dialog states "This list will be saved to the desktop after you reset this PC" one would expect exactly that.

    Maybe we will never know unless a member of the engineering team that developed this gives us an answer. It could have easily been an initial requirement which could not be met in time.
