No "Listen" tab in input recording sound settings for Windows 11. Has this moved?

I'm trying to record in-game footage without picking up the audio from a chat program Discord, Ventrilo, Team Speak etc.. This was doable on windows 10 by installing a 3rd party program such as "VB-Audio Cable", enabling it as a second input, and setting your input to "listen" to the appropriate source. The audio settings window has changed dramatically in Windows 11 and no longer includes this "listen" options, from what I can see. Am I looking in the wrong place? Has this been removed, or is there now a different way of doing this? Thanks,

    :)

Playback detecting Input Devices & Recording detecting Output Devices

    Hi and welcome!

    This is absolutely normal!
What you see as "Input" in Playback tab, actually it is an input (like all the rest, system audio inputs).

Setting VoiceMeeter as Default (in Playback tab), means that system audio playback goes to VoiceMeeter for processing and NOT to your speakers.

If you want to listen to what's VoiceMeeter doing (the reason you got it, I think), you must go to Recording tab, open VoiceMeeter Output Properties -> Listen tab, check "Listen to this device" box and right below, specify the desired listening output.

This is the only way to listen to processed sound and that's the way those apps work.

Perhaps, you should set your Mic as Default, in Recording tab, for your game (or VoiceMeeter) to access it. There is no reason for VoiceMeeter to be set as Default in Recording tab, except of recording purposes.

    Hope that helps!

    Can't record from rear input.

    Hi,
Go to Control panel => Sound / Recording tab => Properties of your device / Listen tab,
check Listen to this device box and select desired output.

To record from your input device, you have to go to 'Preferences or Options' of your audio processing app and set that device as the input one.

PS: Kindly, if you like, make your avatar not animated. It's not good for our eyes...*Shock

    Recording Inputs

    Thank you,

I appreciate the response, but it does not help me.

I need to be able to "disable" quite a few recording inputs from my list of recording inputs. The process you described has not been of any benefit to me because it is not really what I need. However, I really appreciate the response, but it has nothing to
do with my drivers. I can disable all the necessary inputs quite easily, but they are all enabled when I reboot!

    Regards,

    Jules
