Windows 10: No longer able to sign in using PIN not an option and windows does not like my password...

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue...


I usually sign into my windows 10 pc with PIN.


This morning it prompted me to set up Windows Hello and would only accept a password. Unfortunately it tells me my password is invalid.


I am able to get into Repair / Recover - using the same password - but it says it is unable to uninstall the last functional update my current assumption that an auto update has messed things up


I am able to get to command line also using my same password and access the file system and am currently backing up all my data just in case.


Is there anything I can do to get Windows to accept my password or my PIN currently a greyed out option?


I am hoping I don't need to do a restore or worst case a reset.

Remove sign in pin

I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove the sign in pin/password options.

• In the search box type sign-in-option.
• Click on the sign-in-option.
• Then you can find password/pin/picture password.
• There you can remove the option and check.

No longer able to use PIN on laptop

Hi.

I am able to use my PIN on my tablet and my phone. However, I can no longer use my PIN when signing in on my laptop. It has been many months since I was last able to use it on my laptop. When I select the PIN option now on my laptop, it says I am unable
to log in this way due to your setup settings. I am unsure what steps to be able to use my PIN again on my laptop. I really, really do not want to use a new PIN if at all possible

How to remove sign in options like pin and password before login?

First of all, if the answer was obvious I wouldn't have posted a thread about it. Second, that tutorial doesn't work because for him he was able to leave the password blank and hit next, but when I do that new password field turns red and says this information is required. Let me know what I should do.

Nothing changed after I tried this. The problem continues to persist.

Probably cuz it doesn't work. Granted he did give me a solution that didn't work any better than yours.

Using a native Windows tool that I clearly demonstrated doesn't work. Can we table this discussion for a later time? Right now I'm just trying to find out how to log into Windows without having to enter a password, pin, etc.

But it's not a demo of setting a blank password to a local account since clearly that's not what it does. I still think setting a blank password is a viable option I'm just waiting on someone to tell me how to do it.

I also tried the tutorial you posted, as I previously mentioned, and the sign-in process does seem to be involved with a Microsoft account somehow. However, the tutorial that Kari suggested does nothing, which I clearly just demonstrated, so I'm not sure why you would suggest it.
