  1. No matter what I do my Windows 10 machines shut off or sleep at some point randomly

I have 2 Win10 computers. One is a NAS that I need to be online 100% of the time (I can settle with automatic updates as long as the computer is restarted).

I've disabled any sleep/hibernation in the power options and even through the group policy editor ("Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands").

Yet every now and then, I'll try and connect to the computers via remote desktop and I'm unable to connect or even ping the computers. The computers are "on", as in the CPU/PSU fans and HDDs are running, however they aren't connected to the network and I can't get a picture when plugging in/turning on a monitor. It's not until I hold the power button to shut them off and then turn them back on that I'm able to use them. Flicking the mouse/typing on the keyboard doesn't do anything.

I've actually had this issue with 4 different computers, so I can only assume that it's a Windows/PEBCAK related thing, not hardware. I've also never touched any power related things in BIOS. I usually only enable XMP and select my boot drive.

I'm able to connect via RDP after a restart but before logging in. So I don't think it's a problem with Windows updating and restarting.

  2. Random sleeping

My upgraded W10 machine has several issues NOT solved by MS updates.

Does anyone have a solution to these issues that will work?

    Thanks

  4. No matter what I do my Windows 10 machines shut off or sleep at some point randomly

Laptop randomly shuts down after latest Windows 10 update

Since the latest update of Windows 10 my computer decides to randomly shut down after every couple of minutes. First the screen goes black, then the sounds stops and after quite a while the power also goes down.

Obviously I though of cleaning the fan with a big vacuum, as suggested on My Windows 10 Computer Randomly Shuts Down . However, after doing this, the shutting down goes even quicker. I cannot even properly log-on before the shutdown takes place.

What should be my next step?

Ps. The computer is quited aged (roughly 3 - 4 years). The battery is dead enough such that I always need to have it plugged in an outlet. It might just be "done for" but I'm hoping to revive it for just a little bit more.
