Windows 10: No mic input signal at all

    No mic input signal at all


    Been using my PC for a year and everything has worked just fine until now.There is absolutely no mic signal. Using an USB headset I get no signal, and using the microphone jack all I can hear is terrible static buzz all the time, still no real mic signal. This problem came out of the blue and nothing has helped so far.Tried enabling/disabling sound devices / updating drivers / trying different ports and headsets / rolling back Windows Updates / Resetting my PC. Nothing works!!I would really appreciate some help here.

    Monitor - No Input Signal

    So you are suggesting that in the event this cable goes for a six, I try out the HDMI port? Seems quite a tenable suggestion - I never thought of that!

    USB Mic Problems.

    The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

    How to fix no mic signal?

    Looks like that model only has headphone output, no Mic input.

    In most Laptops it is a Combo socket, but apparently not on that one.
    I guess it is seeing the internal Mic.

    Possibly, if Combo, TRRS standard, the Mic (..RS) being swopped around not matching the Headset standard.
    The way around that is to use a USB audio dongle with the required Mic input.
