Windows 10: No microphone input after fresh Windows install

Hello everyone,


A few days ago I installed Nvidia CUDA on my ROG laptop (GL502VM) to use on a project. However, doing so messed up my Windows installation to the point that it wouldn't boot even after a full factory reset. So I installed a fresh version of Windows from an external drive, and now the system runs correctly.

However, it doesn't seem to recognize microphone input correctly. This laptop has a combo audio jack, and the audio output part works fine. The issue is that there is no microphone input from either the built-in or external microphones, unless "listen to device" is enabled in the audio settings and there is something plugged into the jack, in which case I can hear microphone input via the speakers. The oddest thing is that even then, no application receives the input. Audacity straight-up refuses to begin recording, stating that I have an incorrect configuration of some sort. I have tried reinstalling all the Realtek audio drivers, to no avail.

Does anyone know of a possible solution to this problem?

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

If you having an issue installing a driver that worked before you formatted or wont install on a fresh build, sometimes this means hardware damage

 

Headset/Microphone background reduction; suggestions

There's a solution to this out there, but I cannot pinpoint the right search terminology to get accurate results.


When I speak into my microphone, whatever sound is being sent into my headphones, is also directly sent to the microphone and outputted upon transmit.

This means that it's not a case of the sound coming out of the headphones, then travelling to the microphone, it's actually going straight to the microphone instead.

All I've come up with so far, is a suggestion to mute the microphone input via Windows. Though that seems to render the microphone useless.
