No network/internet after Window's updates, system restore points missing

System: Lenovo Legion Y10OS: WIndow's 10.0.19045 fresh installHello, Lately I have been losing my internet connection after every Window's update. Tried everything recommended , read and tried a million solutions but Windows will not allow me to re-enable network connections both hardwired connections AND WiFi. When that happens, all I have is airplane mode , everything else is disabled and will stay that way. Also, it does not always happen immediately. he only solution has been to go to previous system restore points. So after yesterdays update I was going to do that again, but all my syst

Windows 10 System Restore Show More Restore Points Box Missing and Restore Points Being Deleted or Missing

    Hi Steven,

There are several reasons why the Show more restore points check box is missing. Some of these are the following:

    • You run out of disk space on the system drive or on any one of the available non-system drives, and System Restore stops responding and stops monitoring your system.
    • You manually turn System Restore off.
    • You upgrade from one operating system to another or you reinstall the operating system

In your case, as you have reinstalled Windows, it's possible that all restore points are deleted, that's why the
Show more restore points check box is not appearing. Did you delete all the partitions when you reinstall Windows? If yes, then all the manually and automatically created restore points will disappear. For further isolation of the issue, we suggest that
you create a new restore point and monitor if it will disappear in a few days just like the others.

    We'll wait for your response.

How to delete inactive System Image Restore Points in System Restore

    Windows 10 64-bit.
When I click "show more restore points" in System Restore I see a bunch of old "system image restore points" that were deleted in past and do not correspond to any currently active restore points. Clicking any of these old restore points, I simply get an error message saying they could not be found, and to select another restore point instead.I would like to delete these restore points listings but have been unable to do so.
So far, I have tried steps mentioned below without any luck :

Disk Cleanup through (CNo network/internet after Window's updates, system restore points missing :) Properties
Disable System Protection (OFF and ON) in System Protection for OS (CNo network/internet after Window's updates, system restore points missing :)
Disk Space Usage to minimum (slider button all the way to the left then 'Delete all restore points for this drive'),
Delete all shown Restore points in CCleaner (the problem ones do not show here),
Reset Windows Backup to Default in Windows 10 with 'Reset_Windows_Backup.bat' utility.

    Any suggestions highly welcome.

    Restore points missing

    Hi Duke,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing currently. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

The deletion of restore points may be caused by any one of the following by-design conditions:

    - You run out of disk space on the system drive or on any one of the available non-system drives, and System Restore stops responding and stops monitoring your system.

    - You manually turn System Restore off.

    - A restore point reaches an age of 90 days. The restore point is then deleted because 90 days is the default time to live.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if that helps.

    Method 1: Safe Mode

Step 1: To start Windows 10 in
    safe mode:

    • Search for Settings from the taskbar and select it from the search results.
    • Select Update & security and click on Recovery.
    • Go to Advanced startup and select
      Restart now.
    • After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select
Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings >Restart.
    • After your PC restarts, select a startup setting as Safe Mode with Networking by pressing the corresponding number.
If the issue does not persists in Safe Mode with Networking, then perform a Clean Boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as Clean Boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.

Step 2: Put the computer in Clean Boot and check if it helps.

By setting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.

How to perform a Clean Boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

Note: After Clean Boot troubleshooting step, refer to “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with Clean Boot” from the article.

Method 2: Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe)

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. It will scan your system files and to repair missing or corrupted system files in Windows.
To run the SFC scan, refer to the Microsoft article below.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support

Hope the information helps. Please let us know if the issue persist and we will be happy to assist you further.
