Windows 10: No Notification to safely remove hardware

When I insert a flash drive, I hear the notification sound but do not get a display notification in the notification area.

When I use the icon to eject a flash drive I get no Safe to Remove notification. I get no notification.

If I attempt to use the icon to eject a second flash drive, I do not get a selection display.

Then when I look at File Explorer I do not see an image/display for the flash drive.
However, if I look at the settings for Bluetooth & Devices, I see an display for the flash drive, and most times indicate Driver Error.


Is this a MICROSOFT Bug or my settings?

Using:

Windows 10s Pro

Version 2004

OS Build 19041.746

Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.221.551.0

Safely Remove Hardware icon missing

Hi
In the last few days the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon has gone missing from my Taskbar. Also, if I right-click on the USB stick or USB hard drive in 'This Computer' the Eject option is missing.
In PC Settings/Personalisation/Taskbar/Notification area/Select which icons appear on the taskbar I have 'Always show all icons in the notification area' switched on & all items in the list are in the 'on' state including 'Windows Explorer (Safely Remove Hardware & Eject Media).
Any suggestions?

 

Safely Remove Hardware Notification

Ever since the latest windows 10 update (KB3189866) after clicking on the safely remove hardware icon the notification that it is safe to remove the device does not display.

I have gone through all the post on this question and followed all the suggestions with no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Of note; ever since the anniversary update havoc has happened on my computer. I have got it all fixed except this new issue.

Thank you for the update, Murray. Since you mentioned that you've already tried running the rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll command to no avail, we suggest that you create a shortcut or even a batch file using the same command. Just run
the shortcut or batch file and see if the Safely Remove Hardware dialog window will appear. To create a shortcut, follow these steps:

• Right-click on the desktop and click on New > Shortcut.
• In the Type the location of the item box, type in, or copy and paste the following command:
  • rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll
• Click Next and then give it a name like Safely Remove Hardware, and then click on
  Finish.
