  1. No response from devices under `Printers & scanners`

    Under `Printers and Scanners`, I see the following devices:

    * Fax
    * HP PSC 750
    * Microsoft Print to PDF
    * Microsoft XPX Document Writer
    * OneNote

    No matter which one I click on, I am presented with the same two buttons: `Open queue` and `Manage`. No matter which button I press, nothing happens. If I double-click the device itself, nothing happens.

    On the other hand, under `Bluetooth & other devices`, there is a `Devices and printers` which mysteriously can't be found if I type in either `printers` or `devices`. If I click on that, I get a `Devices and Printers` panel showing the same devices as above. I can actually double-click `HP PSC 750` and scan something.

    Why are there two different panels showing the same devices?

    In Windows 10, is one more authoritative than the other?

    Is the `Printers and Scanners` window *supposed* to be unresponsive?

    BACKGROUND
    I am on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. In case the following might be relevant, I spent the last week trying to get the `HP PSC 750` recognized on this new Windows 10 laptop. I went to their "Universal Print Driver for Windows" https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-universal-print-driver-series-for-windows/503548/model/4157320 and installed the "USB Driver", which enabled printing but not scanning. Finally, I enabled "Receive updates for other Microsoft products..." under "Advanced options" for Windows updates and initiated an update. That enabled printing *and* scanning after unplugging and replugging the USB cable. I'm not sure if any of these steps might have caused the `Printers and Scanners` panel to be unresponsive.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 recognizes my printer+scanner only as a printer.

    Hello,

    Another method you may try is to uninstall and reinstall the printer. The following are the steps:

    Remove your printer

    • Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners.
    • Under Printers & scanners, find the printer, select it, and then select Remove device.

    Install or add a local printer

    • Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners.
    • Under Printers & Scanners, see if your printer is installed.
    • If you don’t see your device, select Add a printer or scanner. Wait for it to find available printers, choose the one you want, and then select Add device.

    On the other hand, we suggest also that you reach out the manufacturer of your printer/scanner for the driver availability or work around.

    Regards.

  3. Remove Old Printers from "Add a printer or scanner"

    Hi,

    My apologies for the delayed response.

    I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove unwanted Printers and check if it resolves the issue. Here's how:

    1. Right click on Start and select Control Panel
    > Devices and Printers.

    2. Under Printers, select the unwanted Printer and click on
    Remove device.

    3. Now go to Start menu and navigate to Settings >
    Devices > Printers & scanners and check whether the printers

    are listed under Add printers & scanners.

    Please post back with the status of the issue and we will be glad to assist you further.

    Thank you.

  4. No response from devices under `Printers & scanners`

    Printer Scanner

    Hi TT,

    As shown on the screen shots shown before, the printer is listed in devices, but doesnt appear with the Windows 10 printers and scanners section.

    However, the printer does appear to be working at the moment, so I will let it be at that, just strange it should show on one listing but not the other.

    Thanks for your input.
