Windows 10: No sign in prompt.

No prompt to sign into my computer. I’ve tried almost everything I could think of. I have tried Ctrl- Alt - Delete. I have tried restarting. I can’t open cmd or do a system restore because it asks for a password and I have tried every password I have ever had and nothing works. Safemode doesn’t work either as it puts me back on the log in screen with no prompt either. Someone please help.

Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below methods.

Method 1:

• 
  I suggest you to restore the power plans to default and check.
  
• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type the following command in the Command Prompt window and press
  Enter.
  
  powercfg –restoredefaultschemes
  
• 
  Wait for process to complete.
  
• Close the Command prompt window.

Note: Resetting the power plan settings to default will delete all customized power plans.

If the issue still persist, try the below method.

Method 2.

You can also follow the below steps to create a new user account.

• Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard.
• 
  Type netplwiz and press Enter.
  
• 
  Click on Add
  button and click on Sign in without a Microsoft account.
  
• 
  Enter the user name, keep the password blank and follow the onscreen instruction.

Installation media boots to command prompt

I've just booted from known working install media to see exactly what it does when booting. The sequence of events is...

1. Windows logo on a black screen
2. circling dots appear beneath the logo
3. light blue 'Please wait' screen with circling dots
4. a command prompt window (very briefly)
5. the initial Setup page appears

Do you see steps 1-3? If so, it appears you have stopped at step 4, suggesting that something on the disc cannot be read.

Does the disc boot properly in another machine? If so, try cleaning the laptop's drive lens then try booting from the disc again.

If not, make new install media with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, either as a bootable USB, on an ISO that you can burn to another disc. At Step 8 in Option One of this tutorial you can choose between making a USB or an ISO.
