Windows 10: No sound after cloning Hard drive of HP laptop to Dell laptop.

Hi there,I transferred the contents of hard drive from HP laptop to Dell laptop and all works except there is no sound.I have updated all drivers, troubleshooted, uninstalled and reinstalled sound device from device manager, checked every aspect of sound related things re hardware and software, run windows updates + more - but still no sound.Device manager says no output devices installed.There are no internal speaker icons to enable/manage.Using Windows 11.Dell model is lnspiron 3583When I run driver updates on Dell website for my model is says Your System Is Up To Date.I can't think of any

Cloning a hard drive from one laptop to a new laptop

I have read a lot about cloning from one hard drive to another one, but if anyone has any suggestions, that would be great!

MY MAIN question, is how to connect the two computers. Is it as easy as a cable with USB's on either end (I have read this may not work), or do I need a USB transfer cable.

I have a docking station for cloning, but I would rather not take out a hardrive from a brand new laptop if there are other possiblities.

 

Using Clonezilla to Move Windows 10 Image from Dell to HP Laptops

I am trying to move my wife's Windows 10 laptop image from her current Dell laptop to a new HP laptop. I use the Clonezilla IMAGE backup with the -J1 option (rewrite boot block). When restored, the HP says it can't find a bootable OS. My research suggests this is because the image is missing the drivers for the new HP drive.

Can I install the HP drives on the DELL image before I CLONE without causing problems with the existing DELL drivers and potentially corrupting the DELL image? I have confirmed that the target HP ran Windows 10 even though it came installed with Windows 11.

Cloning a hard drive from one laptop to a new laptop

Are you referring to a system drive, as in cloning a system drive from your previous laptop to your new laptop so that your new laptop will have the same OS and installed programs? If this is the case, you're going to run into major problems, as in it probably
won't work, not only because of the Windows license, but also because the old drive is set up to run on your old laptop, not the new one.

Cloning a system drive normally refers to either cloning for a backup, or cloning a system drive to a new drive that is going to go into the same laptop, like if you are upgrading to an SSD or upgrading to a larger size drive.
