  1. No sound after updating graphics drivers

I booted up my computer the other day and was greeting with a message saying my nvidia graphics drivers needed to be updated. After installing the update, I had no sound on my computer. I tried to look up the problem and found that others had had the same one, but there does not seem to be a clear cut solution that does not involve messing with my drivers. I don't want to accidentally break something, so I figured it would be safest to simply ask for help. For context:

In "device manager", under "sound, video and game controllers" I have NVIDIA HD audio, NVIDIA virual audio device and realtek HD audio

When I right click on the sound icon to select "playback devices", the button does not appear

If I try to play a test sound, I get an ambiguous error simply telling me that it failed.

If I press the volume up button on my keyboard, the popup telling me my current volume does not appear, but I know the button is working because if I have the volume slider open I can see it changing.

I don't know how much of this is useful, but if anyone can help me resolve this it would be greatly appreciated!

    :)
