Windows 10: No sound after Windows 10 Update

Last night my computer received the feature update to 1803 from 1709, but at that point I was completely unable to hear sound through my headphones (connected via a 3.5mm audio jack). The RealTek drivers that I use on 1709 are all up to date (and the audio troubleshooter was unable to figure out what the problem was).


I reverted to 1709 for the time being (which fixed the issue - so it's not an issue with my headphones) but Windows Update keeps bugging me about how it wants to restart to update. I don't want to have to keep reverting to an earlier version, so is there a way to fix this?

• Are you getting any error message?
• Have you installed all the pending Windows updates?

• Under tab “Windows update”, click on the icon “check for updates”.
• Then once you find the pending updates install it and check.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
