Windows 10: No sound before login to Windows

I have been using HotAlarmClock HAC as my alarm software. And I am using the latest Windows 10 x64. When I go to sleep I put computer to sleep and in the morning HAC wakes the computer and starts to play music. It has worked before, but now couple of weeks ago update was installed on my Windows 10 Pro and I no longer get any sound when the computer wakes up. However I do get sound when I type in my password and login. I just don't get sound from my open session. I can see that the tracks are playing via HAC remote interface another proof - they are in the middle of playlist when I actually enter my pass and log in to Windows.

I have Asus Essence STX ii and Realtek High Definition Audio - disabled in BIOS in my system . However I don't believe this is a driver issue. I believe this is a feature that was introduced in 1809 update. Or just a long lived bug that was finally fixed. It kind of makes sense to not have audio playing from the session after sleep.

Does anyone know a way to get the previous behavior back except uninstalling 1809 update so I can use my alarm clock again? Any settings? Any registry key?

I believe making the Windows not ask for a password when starting would be workaround, but I don't want to weaken the security of the system.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Can't login to new computer w/Windows 10

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to select the appropriate language in login screen at the bottom right corner and check if it helps.

Steps 2: Use On-screen keyboard in the login screen to login and check if it helps.

Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.
