Windows 10: No sound coming from built-in speakers or other devices

I ran diagnostics and heard the eight tones I was supposed to hear when testing the audio. However, it seems no sound is being fed to any of my output devices. I can provide information - but need someone to tell me what to post. Thank you.

I guess you set the "other" speaker as default instead.
Highlight the other speaker and click on Set Default


I don't use or even have headphones. You can see from my pic above...mine is totally different.

I just have a Dell monitor without sound, and speakers and an LG TV with sound.

The only thing I do on the TV is VLC media player.


My speakers are set as default for any sound sources on the monitor.
When I run VLC media player on the LG TV, it looks like this...








...and I have to set up VLC Media player like this...












...then I get the VLC sound on the TV and I can still get monitor sounds on the speakers, at the same time if I want.

there are two line items that are identical: "SPEAKERS." The one that is checked as default is from the output of the Headphone jack. I believe it used to say "Headphones." How do I correct this so it reads properly? Thank you.

Have you tried going to Sounds > Playback tab?

Sounds... right click the speaker icon in the System Tray, by the clock.


Once on the Playback tab... highlight whatever is your output device... speakers, monitor, headphones, etc., and if possible choose: Set Default
Also click on Properties and make sure it says "Use this device (enable)"
