Windows 10: No sound coming out of ASUS laptop even with headphones plugged in or speakers

Around two days ago, I was playing games like normal, and after a bit I tried installing the new GeForce drivers because it had alerted me that new drivers were out. So I had a bunch of trial and error and some mic problems after installing the software required but fixed it afterwards, but it still didn't work. I stayed up till 1 AM trying to install them, but just went to bed. This morning, I hopped onto Minecraft because before I went to bed, I set up an afk sort of thing. I was satisfied with the stuff I had, and just went back to bed and closed my laptop. Around 2 hours later, I wanted to

PLUGGED IN HEADPHONE BUT SOUND IS COMING FROM SPEAKERS

I am using an ASUS laptop and I am having Windows10. My problem is that when I am plugging my headphone the notification is coming that the device has been plugged in but when I am watching or listening to something the sound is coming from the speakers
instead of the headphones. What should I do now? Please provide the solution asap.

My daughter's new laptop (HP Windows 11, purchased 8 months ago) is having an issue with the headphones. In the last couple of days, whenever she plugs them in, the sound still comes from the speakers, not the headphones.

These are simple wired in-ear headphones that work fine on other devices. I've tried other headphones that work fine in other devices, all with the same result.

I've tried setting headphones as the default playback device, but when I select it in the list, Set As Default is greyed out.

I checked the drivers and they are all up to date. I also ran the audio troubleshooter and it found no problems.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

 

Speakers playing when headphones are plugged in

I have an HP laptop with windows 10. When my headphones are plugged in, the speakers are still playing. When I go to sounds, the only device listed is the speakers. How can I silence the speakers when the headphones are plugged in.
