Windows 10: no sound comming from my computer after the last update . I have tested my speakers and...

on my moniter there is a red X at the speaker icon but after trying what was recomenden my computer will not recognize that I have speakers or and headphones plugged into it

Thank you for getting back to us. Since you have mentioned that the computer was moved to a different room, we would like to verify if the connections of your computer peripherals (speakers) are connected to the correct ports. If you are using speakers connected
to a USB port, we suggest that you try to plug it in a different USB port.

If the issue persists, you may also try these steps:

• Type Device Manager on Cortana's search field and press
  Enter.
• Under Sound, video and game controllers, select your sound card.
• Open it, select the Driver tab.
• Select Update Driver.

Note: If Windows doesn't find a new driver, look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow the instructions.

Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

 

Windows 10 sound error: Failed to play test tone and everything

Hi, I need some help with my sound on Windows 10. Everything is ok but I can’t hear any sound from my speakers or headphones. When I go to the Sound settings and try to play a test tone, it says “Failed to play test tone”. This error started yesterday after I updated Windows 10.

I have tried the following steps to fix it, but none of them worked:

• Restarted my computer several times.
  
• Checked the volume and mute settings on my computer and speakers.
  
• Plugged and unplugged my speakers and headphones.
  
• Ran the audio troubleshooter and followed its recommendations.
  
• Updated my audio drivers from the Device Manager.
  
• Changed the default sound format from the Sound properties.
  
• Disabled all audio enhancements from the Sound properties.
  

My audio device is Realtek High Definition Audio and my speakers are Logitech Z313. I don’t know what else to do. Can anyone please help me? Thank you in advance.
