Windows 10: No sound from left speaker

Using windows 10. I am unfortunately unsure when the problem first started as I only noticed some time ago that I didn't get any sound from my left speaker. I can access Realtek HD audio manager fromt he control panel, and I have tried switching the channels so that sound comes out of the left speaker (but then stops coming from the right one) so I assume it is a problem with the drivers. But far as I can see they are all up to date. In device manager under "sound, video and game controllers", my listed drivers are:


NVIDIA High Definition Audio

NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

Realtek High Definition Audio


Unsure on how I should proceed from here and would appreciate any help.


Have tried to look for old posts on similar problems, but all the ones I have found appear to be woefully out of date with dead links.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Sound Quality


One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

 

Sound does not come out of the left speaker

Most speakers have an associated program wherein you can make sound adjustments. To isolate your concern, we'd like to ask the following questions:

• Have you made any recent changes to your computer, like installing updates?
• Have you changed any settings which you think might have affected the sound on your device?
• Do you have a software installed to control the sound settings on your device?
