Windows 10: No sound from microphones with camera app or zoom in Windows 11

Just updated to Windows 11. Now I cannot get video to record with audio and I cannot get my audio to work with Zoom. I've tested both the internal microphone and external microphones in settings, both test just fine. I've made sure microphone settings were correct. I've made sure all drivers were updated. Still cannot get microphone audio when using camera app or Zoom.

Start Zoom app, then right click on the Zoom icon in System Tray > Settings then select Video from Settings -

Do you see yourself or any image from camera? Then next click Audio from same Zoom settings window and test speaker and microphone. See if that helps confirm your camera, microphone, and speakers/headphones are recognized and operational in Zoom.

I have found the Zoom app very useful for confirming my camera, microphone, and speakers are working on my PC *Smile Much easier than Windows anyway.

Camera works just fine. How do I turn on the microphone? I don't want it on all the time.

 

Configurating Cameras and Microphones

How do I change settings for and uninstall cameras and other such camera things? (Windows 10 is impossible and everything changes faster than web instructions can keep up).

There is no "Cameras" listed in Settings.




But there is one listed in Control Panel




Of course, in Zoom (and other applications), there are three. Those "DroidCam" ones are a software app which allowed me to use my cell as a camera. There seems to be no way to turn them off without uninstalling the software. But there's also no way for me to configure them as the non-default.




Then, when we're done with that, I'll have the same question about choosing and configuring microphones. Whenever I search settings about microphones, all I get is Speech Setup. See, "speech" is not the same thing as setting up the hardware, but Microsoft doesn't seem to believe me about that.
