Windows 10: No sound in microphone in windows 10

When I plug in the mic, it appears in the recording section in the Sound setting but it is not detected in the playback section. I can record the input, but I can't hear anything from it. The only device displayed in the output section is the pc speaker. I have tried everything. I updated the drivers, checked if the mic is muted, troubleshooted. But nothing works. I am having this problem for quite a while. Yesterday, I don't know what happened, I was working with some options in the sound settings, maybe after troubleshooting, it had worked. But today, it's not working again. I have changed nothing. I tried all of the steps again but it doesn't work. How to fix this problem?

This issue might occur if there is change in sound settings or audio driver is corrupt.

• Are you getting any error message while using Microphone?
• Have you made any changes in microphone settings?
• What is the make and model of the computer?
• Have you checked the issue with other microphone devices?

External microphone does not work

The issue could be because of the microphone being in a disabled state. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works:

• Open Control Panel and categorize to view by
  Small Icons.
  
• Click on Speech Recognition and navigate to
  Advanced Speech Options > Microphone > Advanced
  
• Check Real Conexant HD Audio, save the changes and exit
  Control Panel.
  
• Restart the machine to see if the microphone works.

Microphone issues

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

• Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
  
• Corrupted or outdated driver
  
• Faulty device
  

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?
