Windows 10: No sound output device on Windows 10 with analogue speakers

Hello,


I have a HP Envy desktop running Windows 10, version 2004. The desktop has analogue surround sound outputs connected to a surround sound system Creative Inspire T6300.


The sound system was working perfectly until a recent Windows update? but now there is no sound at all. There is no longer any output device listed in the output device sound settings. I have double checked that the surround system is still properly plugged in and powered. The volume control is still illuminated when on and I hear a faint click as the system is switched on and off as normal.


The Device Manager lists a "High Definition Audio Device" and the Webcam. I have tried to update the driver but to no avail. The Troubleshooter offers me only options to troubleshoot the NVIDIA outputs on the HDMI connector which is no help.


This has me really baffled - I would really appreciate any ideas or assistance!

No Audio Output Device is Installed

Hi,

You will need to select Windows 8 from the drop down list while installing the driver in compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to try setting the speaker as default audio output by following the steps below and check if it helps.

1. Right click on the sound icon on the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

2. Select "playback devices".

3. If "speaker" is not set as the default device, highlight it and click "set as default".

5. Save the changes.

Let us know the result.

 

Windows 10 audio stutters regardless of driver or output used, more noticeable on the toslink and surround sound.

• What device are you using? A laptop or a computer?
• Its a desktop, i listed the components in the original post.
• Do you have an external speaker?From which device does the sound come out from? From the TV or from the device?
• I listed the outputs in the original post. The issue exists on all outputs and exists on the tv speakers, surround sound speakers, and headset.
• What other troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
• I have listed the troubleshooting steps that i can remember in the original post.

 

Can't select paired bluetooth speaker as sound output (Windows 10)

I just got a new bluetooth speaker, an Urbanears Stammen (concrete grey)

I can connect to it from my phone, using Bluetooth, and play back sound no problem. But I can't get my Windows 10 laptop (Dell XPS 15) to use it as a playback device.

I can connect and pair to it no problem, as you see in the screenshot below





It also shows up under bluetooth in the device manager. It's not listed under "Audio inputs and outputs", which I thought it should be, but I can see it under "Sound, video and game controllers".





But I can't select it as a playback device

And I tried the suggested steps listed there, but nothing helped

Any further ideas I could try?
