Windows 10: No startup sound when login password is active DisplayPort connected monitor speakers

Hello. I assume it is related to analog/digital output or system prioritization. I feel like if there is password, Windows does not play the sound through DisplayPort because it is named AMD High Definition Audio Device prioritization or does not send the audio at all. Does anyone have a logical explanation and/or a possible solution to this? Sound not working through monitor speakers through displayport or hdmi

Hi,

I am trying to get sound through monitor speakers working.

I have an NVidia 950 with two monitors - one using displayport and one using hdmi.

The speakers are working when connected from a different laptop.

Sound through headphones work when headphones plugged in.

PC is using Windows 10,

What could be the issue here?

To assist you better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

• When will the sound disable, when playing through main monitor or the extended monitor?
• Did you try enabling the sound from the sound drivers and check if it helps?
• Since from when are you facing this issue?

This issue causes because the monitor automatically takes the HDMI sound as the Default input. Disable and enable the speakers and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

• Right click on the volume control and then
  Properties,
• When you connect the HDMI it becomes the default output device, even though it has no speakers.
• You need to change this back to "Speakers" and set as default.

No sound from in-built monitor speakers


Ok I'm either doing something completely stupid or my speakers just do not work.

I have my monitor connected to my gpu via displayport and have the monitor set to default device under sound playback but still no sound. When I try and play some audio I can see the little sound bar move up and down but nothing from the speakers.
Same problem also happens when I plug my headphones directly into monitor.

Every other method works just fine.
