  2. I’m stumped. I bought a Win10 HP laptop last year and it will not connect wireless to my home router (Linksys EA4500). All my other computers and iPad connect wireless just fine and my last Win 7 laptop connected just fine too but this one is impossible. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and disabled and re-enabled and upgraded everything in the system over and over and changed all the settings in the advanced tab for the wireless adapter (Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11b/g/n) and even bought a second wireless adapter (DLink 1200) but nothing works. When I’m out of the house it picks up hotspots just fine but not my home router. When I plug in with an ethernet cable I can go to my router website and see the machine which has been added to my device list; but its offline when I try wireless.Anybody else been down this road? Is there anything I’ve missed?Thx

    :)

  3. No wifi / ethernet menu

    Hello,

Yesterday I upgraded my lenovo laptop (y510P) from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

After this upgrade was installed in tried to connect to internet but then I encountered a problem.

My laptop didn't automatically connect to wifi and there was also no response when the ethernet cable was inserted.

In the sub menu 'Network & Internet' the header 'Wi-Fi' and the header 'Ethernet' are both missing.

This means it will not connect to the internet.

While running windows 8.1 I had no such problems.

Does anyone know what to do??

Welcome to the forum. Is your router running in 2 g or 5 g mode if it's only 5 g your PC won't see it check your router to see if it can be set to 2 g

  6. Hi

The router has both operating. I shut off the 5 just to test but it made no difference.

"can't connect to this network" is all it ever says.

I'm going for a bike ride.

    thx

  12. The AC1200 is disabled: I have no idea what a virtual adapter is or where it is as it doesn't show up in the Device Manager. The RealTek came with the computer and is the only adapter enabled.

    No wifi

The AC1200 is 3-4 times faster than the Realtek bgn that is built in. The AC should connect to the 5g network well. Look in Network and Sharing, Change Adapter Options, you can right click and disable/enable whichever you choose. Older devices connect to 2.4g network, so both need to be enabled in the router.

This suggests that there's an emulation or virtualization app that uses this.
