    Aight, the saga continiues.

My windows 10 pc's 3rd hdd (regular hdd, drive ENon system HDD drive keeps filling up itself. I delete files. It fills itself magically.... :) keeps filling up. Yesterday I thought I was imagining it and that I just forgot to delete files. So I deleted some files and had free space. Behold - today the HDD is full again.

Any ideas what can cause this and how to fix it? My drive E: is only used for storage and no programs should be making new data there this fast (I think I've lost 100GB+ in a day).

    So far I've attempted this:

    1. Ran error checking. Everything was fine.

    2. Ran disk defragment. Everything was fine.

    3. Ran disk cleanup. Again, fine.

    4. Ran hddscan, all results seemed to be ok.

    5. Ran "chkdsk e: /f /v /x" from command prompt as administrator, got this:

The type of the file system is NTFS. Volume dismounted. All opened handles to this volume are now invalid. Volume label is paks leevike.

Stage 1: Examining basic file system structure ... 329472 file records processed. File verification completed. 37745 large file records processed. 0 bad file records processed.

Stage 2: Examining file name linkage ... 1722 reparse records processed. 363408 index entries processed. Index verification completed. 0 unindexed files scanned. 0 unindexed files recovered to lost and found. 1722 reparse records processed.

Stage 3: Examining security descriptors ... Security descriptor verification completed. 16968 data files processed.

Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems. No further action is required.

9537517 MB total disk space. 9536734 MB in 273811 files. 84916 KB in 16970 indexes. 0 KB in bad sectors. 695615 KB in use by the system. 65536 KB occupied by the log file. 22236 KB available on disk.

4096 bytes in each allocation unit.

2441604607 total allocation units on disk. 5559 allocation units available on disk.

    1. Ran spacesniffer, didn't notice any abnormally large files (everything was okay), but I got these results:

WARN 22:40:16 - Unable to examine E:\$RECYCLE.BIN\S-1-5-21-3751003972-711708166-676161771-1006 (Access is denied. - code 5) WARN 22:40:16 - Unable to examine E:\$RECYCLE.BIN\S-1-5-21-854968657-3871743629-643676874-1001 (Access is denied. - code 5) WARN 22:40:23 - Unable to examine E:\System Volume Information (Access is denied. - code 5)

I'm out of ideas. What should I do? I'd like to keep the hdd from filling up again and get my space back Non system HDD drive keeps filling up itself. I delete files. It fills itself magically.... :) Any ideas? Non system HDD drive keeps filling up itself. I delete files. It fills itself magically.... :)

    C Drive Keeps Filling Up

Thanks. Extremely interesting article. I followed the steps as outlined, but when I was as the step to Stop the Windows Modules Installer Service, it was already stopped. So I was not quite sure how to proceed, so I abandoned the process. Since I had
already manually deleted most of the cab files, I now have 190 GB free space. I will closely monitor the free space to see how quickly it fills up, and if it fills up as quickly as the article suggests might happen, I will try again to follow the instructions
to see if I can get it to work. With the service already stopped, and set to Manual, if I get to that point again, do you have any suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks again for this very insightful article -- it sure explains a lot.

    C Drive keeps filling up.

My C Drive has 29 GB of space. However, it has been filled near to the brin and now I have less than 2 GB of space. I have run multiple virus scans, disk cleaners, removed system restore points, deleted browsing history, ect. but it just keeps filling
back up and I don't know why.

Have you check if Windows is currently downloading an update?
