    hello,


    i have windows 10. i'm trying to connect my nook simple touch to update it, but it won't show up in files anywhere. it'll charge but it wont come up on my pc. i have tried it with a different computer and it doesnt work, so i think its a problem with windows.

    Older Nook not connecting to computer

    I have a Nook simple touch that I have not used in a few years. I'm attempting to update the Nook as well as load books on to it for an upcoming trip. I can not get the computer to recognize the Nook, although it has no problems connecting to other devices
    like my phone or my external hard drive. I have spent hours this morning reading several ways to fix this and it's not working. I've restarted the computer, I've tried different USB ports, I have uninstalled the drivers, none of it is working. I'm not a
    super tech-savvy person and don't want to mess up my computer or Nook by trying too many other things. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Hi Homer,

    We'd like to ask a few questions to help us isolate this problem.

    • Have you tried connecting your device tracker to a different USB port on your computer?
    • If so, was it detected?
    • Did you receive any error messages?

    USB Port Oddities


    Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:

    Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :

    The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :

    Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:

    Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
