Normally I should broke the RAID 1 CONFIGURATION if disconnected any of the SATA data Connectors one or the two HDDs in RAID 1 from the motherboard...? TrueFalseSYSTEM INFOAsus motherboard PRIME Z370-A; 2017-2018 model2TB HDDs in RAID 1 as D:/SSD NVMe 500GB C:/WINDOWS 10 PROI plan replace NVMe with another of 1TB size.

The bios has limitation to run above 2 bootable controllers. Why u want to add one more?

 

PCI-Express To SATA III 6Gbps Cards

My SSD was hanging/freezing on the South Bridge controller, and I really wanted to put it on a 6 G/bs anyway, so I moved it over to the Marvell controller along with my secondary drive (6 G/bs WD Hard Drive). So, that's the Marvell's full. They are are operating OK now. Thanks muchomurka.

The third drive (6 G/bs WD Hard Drive), I moved to the GIGABYTE controller, but it only is a 3 G/bs controller and I am only getting 1.5 G/bs from it for some reason. Some people may say that 1.5 G/bs is enough.
The other problem with that the controller pauses for a few seconds and displays a blue message:
HDD0: Press any key to continue
But in the BIOS, it is listed as SCSI-0

Broke raid, booted to W7 instead of w10

you won't see the HDD's in the BIOS probably because now there's no power to them !!!.

You need to "Disentangle" the RAID system -- BUT doing that you will probably lose data so it's your choice.
Some older RAID cards - especially with older slower HDD's attached aren't very good performers -- you might be better off removing the RAID card completely and using the HDD's as standard SATA AHCI drives. You'll probably need to re-install Windows in this case though.

If you remove / disconnect the RAID Card you'll need to directly connect the HDD's to the SATA ports on the Mobo and the power connectors to the other connector on the HDD's -- the bigger one. You can use a MOLEX -->SATA power connector if you've only got Molex (the 4 pin power cables) and also a SATA splitter -- i.e a Y shaped connector -- connect one end to the sata power supply and the other 2 ends to two HDD's.
