Windows 10: Norton keeps popping up on my taskbar, i cant find where to delete the program.

Want to delete Norton from my computer.

Are you referring to taskbar preview window pop-ups?



If yes, there is no option to disable the taskbar window pop-ups when you hover the mouse, this is by design.

However you may Auto-hide taskbar by following the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Right click on the taskbar and select properties.
  
• 
  In the Taskbar tab, Place a tick mark for Auto-hide the taskbar.
  

You may provide your suggestions in the feedback app.

Follow the steps:

• Go to Start, enter the phrase Windows Feedback, and then select Windows Feedback.
• See if someone else has given similar feedback by entering the topic, such as Microsoft Music.
• If you find similar feedback, select it, add any details, and then select Me too.
• To narrow your search to a specific category, pick the category that most closely matches your feedback (so it gets to the right people quickly). For example, for feedback about the Music app, select Apps > Music.
• If you don’t find any similar feedback, select New Feedback, and choose a topic from Select a category and then select a subcategory.
  
• Enter your feedback (the more details the better!), add a screenshot if you can, and you're done.

Norton Download Manager continually pops up, telling me to install upgraded version of Norton. The problem with this is, I am not running Norton on my PC.

This issue might have occurred if there are some files left remaining on your system related to Norton. Let's try the below steps and check if it helps:

Step 1: Boot into Safe mode and check:

Follow the steps to boot into Safe mode from the below link:

Start your PC in safe mode in Windows 10

Next check the Programs and features list and check if any programs related to Norton is listed.

1. Right click on the Start button and select
Control panel.

2. Now select Programs and Features.

3. check and delete the program related to Norton.

Step 2: If issue persists, again in Safe mode perform the below steps:

1. Open File Explorer.

2. Open C: drive.

3. Open Programs files folder.

4. check if anything is listed related to Norton and delete it.

Norton Download Manager

I use Windows Defender as my AV protection. I DO NOT have or ever had any Norton product on my computer. After the Anniversary update was installed, I booted up and this Norton Download Manager screen popped up and read "Your current Norton program is
not compatible with Windows 10 and you can update it by clicking "Next" below". There is NO exit or close icons on this screen, only in the taskbar. There is an icon to lower the screen to the taskbar and another icon in the "boot-up" section of the taskbar.
There were also 2 icons on the desktop. I deleted the desktop icons to the Recycle Bin and then emptied it. I then went to the "Programs and Features" section of the Control Panel and deleted the Norton file listed there. I then went to "Settings/Taskbar"
and discovered it was "Frozen" and I couldn't make any changes to any of the "Start-up" icons there. The Norton icon was listed there as being "OFF", but was in the taskbar. I then did a computer search for Norton Download Manager and found it in the "Users/Public"
folder on "C" Drive. I tried to permanently delete it, but it wouldn't delete because "THE FILE IS CURRENTLY IN USE BY NORTON DOWNLOAD MANAGER". Now YOU tell me if this isn't a bunch of **** from Norton, trying to force a Defender's user, which is FREE, to
convert to system which is costly. All I want to know is - - HOW CAN I GET RID OF THIS LOUSY SOFTWARE AND HOW IN THE **** DID IT GET INTO MY ANNIVERSARY UPDATE?????
