    Thanks for your solution to file unavailable - directory corrupted.I used your suggestion of CHKDSK.I added the parameters /f /rTook 8+ hours on my 8TB external disk. Didn't appear to work at first; after a reboot, access was restored. Thank you. There are a lot of duplicate sub-folders now, but this is a better problem to have.Thanks againregardsChris

    Yes, I followed Maritza Capiro's steps one by one and it worked perfectly and then the computer restarted. I am very happy.

    File Explorer Not Responding

    Hello Maritza Capiro,

    Thanks for the reply. I tried what you said to do and the problem still persists although I will say that on two occasions I was able to get the dropdown list to appear and was able to make a new folder but then the problem returned and have not been able
    to hover over new anymore without it freezing and File Explorer crashing.
