Windows 10: Not able to Activate Windows after upgrading PC

So I had windows 8 back in 2015, but then I got the free upgrade to Windows 10 in that same year. It worked fine until a couple of months ago I upgraded my PC, and now it gives me an error code for activating windows. I also have a constant watermark in the bottom right hand corner of my PC that won't go away. I have the email confirming that I reserved my free upgrade to windows 10. Is there any way to fix this without having to pay money for a new activation code?

Windows 10 Wont Activate after upgrade

I had used the mediacreationtool to upgrade my pc. Will waiting 24 hours still work with it?

or you could hack it with a crack but please note this is always risky and you don't know what's in the hack
