Windows 10: Not able to cast TV to computer device. Error message: Connection to Device Failed.

Can someone please help??


Device Manager "sees" my Sony Bravia but when I Cast to it, I constantly get "Connection to Device Failed" error message. Did the usual and updated all drivers etc to no avail.


This used to work but have not used it for over a year.

Hi Princely,

You can actually check the manual which comes with the Smart TV for more information on how to connect your TV to your PC.

In addition, press the Connect button in the action center to find your device. Windows 10 usually finds devices automatically when you plug them in or turn them on. If it doesn't, follow these steps:

• In the search box on the taskbar, type Devices.
• From the list of search results, select Devices.
• Select Add a device.

Once you are able to find the device, you can now use the Cast to device option to Stream the files.

Windows 10- Cast to device not working

OT- "Cast To" not working (Smart TV) ?

Hi, I am trying to cast content to my LG Smart TV connected to my network.

The TV appears under 'Network' and under the "Cast To" option.

However the TV does not appear under 'Device Manager' or 'Settings->Devices->Connected Devices'.

So when I click the TV under "Cast To" nothing happens.

I am able to cast to the TV from my smartphone.

I have tried all the generic solutions like disconnecting everything and rebooting as well as enabling streaming under Network & Sharing Centre.

Until my TV is listed under "Digital Media Devices" in 'Device Manager', its not going to work.

Any suggestions ? (please none of the generic copy pasted troubleshooting responses). Thanks.

 

What does "Cast to device" mean?

I am sorry to know that you are unable to connect PC and smart phone to a Smart TV.

• What is the make and model of the computer?
• What is the make and model of the Smart TV ?
• How are you trying to connect Smart TV to the PC?

Refer the manual which comes with Smart TV for more information about how to connect TV to a PC.

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.
