Windows 10: Not able to change my default Windows account to administrator

I am using a Windows 10 pc, and have only one default user account which,by default, is an administrator. It was administrator but I degraded it down to a local/guest account, and now I cant make it an administrator again
1 I have tried the normal way of changing account type but it didnt work
2 I have tried adding a new user account but it fails with an error code 0x80070005

Please help me fix this issue!

Hi Aadil,

I suggest you to activate Default Administrator and try creating a new Account with Administrative privileges. Try the below steps and check if you can create a new Account.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command prompt(Admin).
  
• 
  Type the following command and hit
  Enter:
  

net user administrator /active:yes



Now, sign out from the current account and you will be able to see a new Administrator account. Sign in to the new Administrator Account and you may create
a new user account with administrative privileges. You can also change the current local user account to Administrator Account. Follow the below steps to change the current local user account to Administrator Account.

  Begin by right-clicking the
  Start Icon of Windows, then click Control Panel.
  
• 
  Then under User Accounts and Family Safety, click
  Change Account Type.
  
• 
  Then choose the account you wish to change, and double-click it.
  
• 
  Then click on Change Account Type.
  
• 
  Then choose the Account Type you want the user to be, you can choose between Standard and Administrator.
  
• 
  Click on Change Account Type.
  

After creating the new user account or changing the current account to Administrator Account, use the following command at the command prompt (as mentioned above) to disable the default administrator account:



net user administrator /active:no

Change Microsoft Account Details in Administrator Account

It's quite easy in fact, simply switch the account in question first to a local account, then switch back to a Microsoft account, this time using your wife's MS account credentials.

Notice that before doing this you need to remove the new additional MS account on the PC, the one you created with her credentials. Windows allows only one user account for each email address, if the new account exists you cannot switch the original administrator account to an MS account using the same email address. How to change main administrator on Windows 10 for HP?

Kindly try the below steps to change the account type from Admin to Standard account and check if this helps.

• Press Windows key + X.
• Select Control Panel.
• Click on User accounts.
• Under make changes to your account, click on
  Manage another account.
• Select the account which you want to change.
• Now click on change the account type.
• Select Standard
  and click on Change the Account Type to change the account type.

To enable the built in admin account, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check.

• In search type "cmd" and right click on the command prompt and open as Administrator (Elevated command prompt).
• In the elevated Command Prompt, type the following command and then press Enter key.

Net user administrator /active:yes, close the Command Prompt.

• Restart PC, then you will be able to see Administrator account.

To hide the Admin account, use the below command:

net user administrator /active:no
