Windows 10: Not able to copy data to my hard drive. "Can't read from the source file or disk".

Hi. I have been trying to back up some data from my laptop to my hard disk. The copy process stops midway and an error occurs which reads "Can't read from the source file or disk". I ran a chkdsk also but i stopped it at stage 4 because the files I was trying to copy went through the chkdsk process so I thought i would be able to copy it back. I have ran a virus scan also and there doesn't seem to be any problem. Should I restart the chkdsk process? If not what should i do?

Cannot copy a Blu-Ray data disc to my hard drive

Hello,

I cannot copy a Blu-Ray data disc (of a WinRAR file) to my hard drive using Windows Explorer.

I receive the error message, "Can't read from the source file or disk," during a copy.

The disc was verified after burning using the burning software. (Nero)

Any suggestions?

Can you recommend a good commercial Blu-Ray data disc to hard drive utility?

I still think the problem is with the formatting when switching the file between Mac and Windows.

Since you say you are sure the file is good it may be a false positive error, so if nothing else works you can try this same method to copy a file in boot mode when Windows cannot block it:

Your assumption that the file (or more importantly file system or drive) is not corrupt since you can play the game is incorrect for several reasons. That error almost always indicates indicates a drive issue, very possibly a bad sector. I recommend running chkdsk C: /r from a elevated command prompt.
