not able to open zipped and compressed files using windows 10

up until just a few days ago I was able to open zipped/compressed files just by right clicking on them and clicking extract files. Now I just constantly a pop up saying "Cannot Complete the compressed (zipped) folders extraction wizard. and that the compressed (zipped) folder is empty and before you can extract files, you must copy files to the compressed (zipped) folder)

What could have happened all of a sudden to make it impossible for me to open them

    :)

    compressed files (zip)

I created a compressed file (zip) in Windows 10 because the file was too big to email (on aol). I sent it to myself as a test and now I cannot open it. Would appreciate some guidance, either how to do it or where to look, i.e. help.

not able to open zipped and compressed files using windows 10

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
