Windows 10: Not able to select slideshow in background personalisation settings

I have a new laptop with Windows 11. I want to set my background to show a slideshow of photos. I go to settings/personalisation and try and select slideshow from the drop down but it just goes back to picture or solid background. How do I enable the slideshow function in desktop personalisation?

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below to set slide desktop.

• Press Windows logo key + I key.
• Click on Personalization.
• Under Background dropdown menu, select slideshow.
• Click on Browse button and then select the folder from which the desktop slide’s to be applied.

Background slideshow not working


I have a background slideshow in operation, inherited from Windows 7 when I changed to Windows 10. I know how to personalise the background, but the slideshow does not work when I select a folder other than the one I inherited, even when there are suitable background pictures in the folder. Obviously, I could just put pictures for my background into the one folder which does work, but I would like to be able to select any picture folder, as should work. Can anyone help?

Slideshow background

I tried to change my background to a slideshow and it won't work. It is a brand new laptop with windows 11. I went to settings, then personalisation then background and selected slide show and selected a folder from my photos. I filled out the settings (play on battery saver mode, fill the screen etc) but it has not changed. It will allow me to change to a photo but not slideshow. When I restart the laptop it still says slideshow and has the correct album highlighted but never seems to actually change. Any ideas?
