Windows 10: Not activated windows, cumulative updates?

This is what happened. I bought my computer from dell with windows 10 pro installed, I did not get an activation code. I reinstalled windows thinking that the activation code was set in the bios or whatever, it was not. Apparently that was implemented after I bought my computer or something. Dell tells me they cant give me an activation code because "they dont have it". Microsoft tells me I need to purchase a new copy of windows which I WONT because I already payed for it when I bought my computer.

I dont care, I will use the "non activated" version of windows and live with the ugly grey letters in the bottom left corner. What worries me is that I wont get all security updates, especially the big cumulative updates. Can anyone shed a light on this situation please?

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) will not install

Anyone else having problems getting the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) installed? This update has been failing for me & doing a failed to update after downloading & reboot, then rebooting & removing the update.

V 10.0 build 10240

I think today's windows update(stable channel) solves d issue

True. Anyone remembers how long it took to update vanilla Windows 7 with all updates released just 6 months later. It took ages even on high end systems. Windows 10 with cumulative takes like few minutes a year after vanilla was released.
